The tough tackling full-back joined an ever expanding Dutch colony at Ibrox when he signed from AZ Alkmaar for a fee of £3.75m. Unable to replace Barry Ferguson adequately, McLeish pushed Ricksen into the Rangers midfield and it proved to be the catalyst as Rangers went on to secure the most dramatic Championship win in the history of the Club. Ricksen would play in all 38 league matches scoring 5 times.
Fernando went on to accumulate 254 appearances and scored 20 goals. Winning 2 League Championships, 2 Scottish Cups and 3 League Cups during his six years at Rangers. He was inducted into the Rangers Hall Of Fame in 2014.
